The  Buddamom.com July Newsletter...

Dear friends,

I am busy preparing for my Northwest tour and so for the July newsletter I thought I would share a poem I wrote in 1994 with you.

GREEN GULCH FARM

There are many things one can do with a life.
Some are called to help heal the wounds of battered children,
Some are called to help heal the wounds of a battered planet,
Some are called to leave bright, strong tracks in their wake.
I am called to do simple things thoroughly.

I am called to do simple things thoroughly.
To walk down a dirt road
and smell eucalyptus laced with anise,
To greet my daughter with every cell of my body,
To make love with wide open pours,
My skin drinking in, flowing out,
To taste each morsel of the black succulent fig
cradling its pink tender flesh.

I am called to see simple things thoroughly.
The line where the blue-grey undulating ocean
meets the pale cerulean blue sky,
The lines marching assuredly up each side of my mouth
till they reach my nostrils,
The shades and hues of moods that pass over a friends face,
The stillness of the Buddha's body
as he sits thoroughly present.

To be thoroughly alone without being lonely,
To thoroughly love whoever, whatever is present,
To widen my consciousness to include all beings,
every grain of sand,
each banana slug,
To act simply from a state of clarity,
To do simply things thoroughly.

Jacqueline
